Terms of Service

By accessing or using the Book Your Trip Japan platform (the "Platform"), creating an account, or completing a booking, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Platform. We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time; continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance. The most current version is always available at this URL.

What we provide

Book Your Trip Japan ("we", "our", "us") operates an online marketplace that connects travellers with third-party tour operators and experience providers across Japan. We act as the booking agent and payment facilitator — we are not ourselves the provider of any tour, activity, transportation, accommodation, or other travel service listed on the Platform.

Operator responsibility

Each tour or experience is designed, operated, and delivered solely by the respective third-party operator ("Operator"). Operators are independent contractors and are not employees, agents, or partners of Book Your Trip Japan. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of any Operator.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into binding contracts in your jurisdiction to create an account or make a booking. By using the Platform you represent that you meet these requirements.

Account creation

To make a booking you must create an account using a valid email address or a supported OAuth provider (currently Google). You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity that occurs under your account.

Account accuracy

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep your account details up to date. Providing false information is grounds for immediate account termination.

Account termination

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently close any account that violates these Terms, engages in fraudulent activity, abuses the Platform, or poses a risk to other users or Operators. You may delete your account at any time via account settings or by contacting us.

Booking process

A booking is confirmed when you receive a written confirmation email from us. Until that email is sent, no binding contract for the travel service exists. We reserve the right to reject any booking at our discretion, in which case any payment taken will be refunded in full.

Pricing

All prices displayed on the Platform are in the currency indicated and include applicable taxes unless otherwise stated. Prices are set by Operators and may change at any time prior to your booking being confirmed. We make every effort to ensure pricing accuracy but are not responsible for typographical errors.

Payment

We accept major credit and debit cards, PayPal, and bank transfer via Wise, depending on your region. All payment processing is handled by our PCI-DSS-compliant payment partners. By providing payment details you represent that you are authorised to use the payment method and authorise us to charge the full booking amount.

Currency and fees

If your payment card or account is denominated in a currency other than the booking currency, your bank or payment provider may apply foreign exchange fees. We are not responsible for such fees.

Service fee

We charge a platform service fee on each booking. This fee is displayed clearly at checkout before you confirm payment. The service fee is non-refundable unless the tour is cancelled by the Operator or by us.

Operator cancellation policy

Each tour listing specifies its own cancellation policy (e.g. full refund if cancelled 7 days before, 50% refund within 7 days, no refund within 48 hours). These policies are set by the Operator and are binding. The applicable policy is displayed on the tour page and in your booking confirmation.

Cancellation by you

To cancel a booking, log in to your account and navigate to 'My Bookings', or contact us at support@bookyourtrip.jp. Refunds are calculated in accordance with the Operator's cancellation policy at the time of your original booking and will be processed to your original payment method within 5–10 business days.

Cancellation by the Operator

If an Operator cancels a confirmed booking, you will receive a full refund of all amounts paid, including the platform service fee. We will notify you as soon as possible and, where available, offer alternative tours.

Force majeure

Neither we nor Operators are liable for cancellations caused by events beyond reasonable control, including natural disasters, severe weather, government restrictions, civil unrest, pandemics, or acts of terrorism. In such cases, the applicable refund policy will be communicated on a case-by-case basis.

No-shows

Failure to appear for a booked tour at the designated time and location is treated as a cancellation within the shortest cancellation window and no refund will be issued unless the Operator's policy states otherwise.

Acceptable use

You agree to use the Platform only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not: submit false, misleading, or fraudulent booking requests; impersonate any person or entity; attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or automate access to the Platform; post harmful, defamatory, or illegal content; or circumvent any security measure.

Reviews and content

If the Platform allows you to post reviews, photos, or other content, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display, reproduce, and distribute such content in connection with operating and promoting the Platform. You represent that you own or have the right to share all content you post, and that it is accurate and does not infringe any third-party rights.

Prohibited conduct

You may not use the Platform to book tours on behalf of others for commercial resale or profit without our prior written consent. Reselling or transferring confirmed bookings to third parties is prohibited.

Our content

All content on the Platform — including text, logos, images, graphics, software, and tour descriptions — is owned by or licensed to Book Your Trip Japan and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, or distribute our content without our express written permission.

Operator content

Tour descriptions, images, and itineraries provided by Operators remain the intellectual property of the respective Operator. We display such content under licence from each Operator.

Platform provided 'as is'

The Platform is provided on an 'as is' and 'as available' basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Platform will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of viruses.

Travel services

We do not guarantee the quality, safety, legality, or suitability of any tour or experience listed on the Platform. You participate in any tour or activity at your own risk. We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance that covers trip cancellation, medical evacuation, personal accident, and loss of belongings.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from or related to these Terms or your use of the Platform shall not exceed the total amount paid by you for the specific booking giving rise to the claim. In no event shall we be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.

Third-party links

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or conduct of any third-party site. Accessing such sites is at your own risk.

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Book Your Trip Japan, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with: (a) your use of the Platform; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any third-party rights; or (d) any content you submit to the Platform.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation between the parties.

Dispute resolution

If a dispute cannot be resolved through negotiation within 30 days, it shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Tokyo, Japan. Notwithstanding this, we reserve the right to seek injunctive or other equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.

Consumer rights

Nothing in these Terms limits any statutory rights you may have under the consumer protection laws of your country of residence that cannot be waived by contract.

Entire agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any booking-specific terms communicated at checkout, constitute the entire agreement between you and Book Your Trip Japan with respect to the Platform and supersede all prior agreements.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

No waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of that right or provision.

Assignment

You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations at any time, including in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
